Lac Ste Anne:  Alberta Beach

Harold's Report:

Allan, Vadim and I snuck in an afternoon of pretty good windsurfing today.  The rain finally stopped at about 1230PM and it turned into a sunny windy day, so I jumped on the water and Al joined me soon after.  Vadim showed up a little later and got in some pretty good reaches.

Al and Vadim used their 6.5s and I used my 6.1.

There were lots of good swells to be had all day.

The first hour of wind was solid.  The second couple of hours were fluky.  The wind seemed to rise and fall off the water in patches, although sometimes it was sustained, so as Kent would say, it was technical sailing.  But all in all it was fun.

Mike came down on his kite to say hello.  It looked like he was well powered most of the time and having fun.

The water is getting cool.  We’d better get our sailing in while it is still liquid.

Lac Ste Anne - Alberta Beach

Harold's Report:

Lot of them thar kiter dudes at Lac Ste Anne today.  Mike was blasting up and down most of the afternoon, but came over and said hello to us interlopers (Vadim and me).  He also pointed out the far side of the pier where the wind seemed to be more consistent (thanks Mike).

Vadim used a 6.5 Retro and I used my 6.1.  Lots of lulls, but also some nice powerful gusts and the swells were fun.  So a nice way to start September.

Wabamun Lake - Cam and Cynthia's Place

Kent's Report:  Great to be on the water!

Blaine, Kent, Cam, Cynthia, and Big Air Jim all foiled at Wabamun today.   Blaine and i were on 4.5’s.   Cam had his new fast wing and a 5.2.   Jim sailed 6.0 (i don't know how!)   And Cynthia was on a 3.7.

After foiling cam foiled with a wing and made it work for one reach.   Impressive!   Jesse tried the wing as well and did great considering that he has never foiled and it was only his second tome with a wing!

Cynthia said "We had a great day on the water!   It was fun to have so many of us out together."

Slave Lake - Eddy's Place

Eddy's Report:

On Sunday I was very well powered on my 14m kite, then again well-powered Monday on my 12m. Water was surprisingly warm!

Dried Meat Lake - Ted's Place

Ted's Report:

I got up to wind, but didn't get organized to go out until after lunch.  I went out on my 4.8 Hucker and foil board and sailed for just over 20km.  It was a good session!  The wind was a bit up and down, but I foiled almost every time, with very little slogging.  I had the lake totally to myself.  There weren't even any fishing boats out.

At times, I was very over powered.  It was fun trying to ride the waves, even though they aren't big on my lake.  I did some of my best jibes yet.  I am trying to jibe in stronger wind which seems to help.

Louise came down the hill to keep an eye on me, collect some "special" rocks for her craft projects, and take a few photos...
