2021-07-11 Blasting at Alberta Beach

Lac Ste. Anne - Alberta Beach Mikes Report: We had a great kite session at Alberta beach yesterday. There were a slew of kiters on the water on a beautiful day.    Ross was smoking on his new foil with his 7m.  Andreas was on his surfboard which met its demise again and then on his foil  I think he was on his 10. I was on my surfboard ... I tried strapless, but not by design, as my solo front strap came undone so I decided to toast it completely.  I found strapless pretty easy but still struggling to gybe the thing.    I did a quick session on my 15 at the start then went down to my 10 when it filled in.  Allan and one other windsurfer ( not sure who ) were getting a good ride for a change I think Al was on his 6.5. Note:  It turns out that the "other" windsurfer was Vadim. He told me he was on his 6.5 and 99 Litre board, and then his 115 Litre board.  He said it was a very good day, with gusts, and lulls.

2021-07-10 - A nice day for a visit

Pigeon Lake - Brad's Place Ted's Report: The forecast was for 20 gusting to 35 for most of the day, so I loaded my gear and drove to Brad's, arriving at about 10:30.  Blaine was already there and rigged, but said that the wind had dropped since he had arrived. The water was pretty calm, although not waterski calm.  Brad wasn't as enthusiastic as Blaine, or maybe he was just preoccupied because he was replacing his front cabin window. It wasn't quite water ski weather...but close... Ross arrived and said that Matt was at the boat launch.  Apparently, Matt had tried to go out with a series of larger and larger kites and then had given up.  Matt showed up for a short visit but then went home. Blaine and Brad - Installing the new front window! We all rigged (except for Brad).  Ross was showing off his new Moses foil and Sabfoil board. Ross's new foil! Ross's new board! Andreas arrived and decided he would go out on his 10m kite.  He got the kite in the air a fe...

2021-06-30 More Foiling

Pigeon Lake - Brad's Place Ted's Report: I got to Brad's at 12:30 on Wednesday.  Blaine was already there.  Brad and Blaine were heading out foiling on 5.2's.  It looked pretty windy from the South East. The rest of the guys arrived soon after I had.  Harold, Mike, Ross, Tim, Al, and Vadim.  I rigged my 5.2, but as I was getting in the water, both Blaine and Brad were coming back in to downsize.  I de-rigged my 5.2 and rigged my 4.2 (they take the same mast).   I was overpowered at times, and underpowered at times, but did pretty well.  The swells were very big at the start, so I had a hard time jibing.  Towards the end of my session, my jibes were getting better, but I am still not close to completing them on the foil. I sailed 26km and came back in after 4:00.  Harold was on his 6.1, Tim was on his biggest sail, a 5.4.  I am not sure what sail size Al and Vadim were on.  Mike was on a 9m Kite, and Ross was Kite foiling....
