2019-09-10 Big Jim's - Day 4
Lac La Biche - Big Jim's Place
Ted's Report:
We got up to another beautiful, calm day. It might have been windy enough to foil at 8:00am, but the wind died off by 9:00, and no one was that ambitious to give it a try.
I showed Cam my BeeBrain (indoor) quadcopter and gave him a chance to fly it. It is fun flying it around Big Jim's house with all the open spaces and high ceilings.

Big Air Jim organized a three-hole golf game on the putting green that Big Jim has at the base of his hill by the lake. Big Air Jim told everyone he won and then did a victory dance. Not wanting to shatter his fragile ego the others just let him dance.
By noon, we had given up on sailing, but we had all made plans.
Jim, Jim, and Brad went golfing. Brad said it was a beautiful day and the course was in great shape. He mentioned that they used "Alternative" Golfing rules and that Big Jim probably won, depending on how you interpret the "M"s marked on his score card.
Kent, Blaine, Cam, and Mike went for a 40km bike ride.

I took my FPV Quad Copter (you fly it while wearing a set of goggles that let you see what a camera sees on the front of the QuadCopter), and went to visit Scott Currie. He took me to a park in Lac La Biche where we flew around until some bylaw officers showed up. They started watching us closely, so we decided to leave before they came over for a chat.

We then went to another park near Scott and Jim's places at the lake. Scott and I took turns again, but this time he was coaching me to find "Lines" and "Gaps" between the trees. It was very cool, and probably my best day flying the quad yet! Really fun!

Eddy and Gerry arrived from Slave Lake during the afternoon, and Handre and Scott also came by for the evening.
Everyone sat on the deck by the lake chatting. Cam and I went out and did some foiling behind the Jetski on Cam's Wing Foiling rig. With the 105 L board, it is a bit tricky getting up. It is too big to start like a wakeboard, but too small to stand on. Cam and I both figured it out, but we both had very different techniques. Lots of fun - it is always "interesting" trying something new.

It was really great catching up with everyone! When everyone had finished their supper, we set up and showed the 2018-2020 Gorge Video! It was great fun. Afterward we also watched some of the older videos. That might have been even more fun!
What a great evening.
