2021-08-11 Another Windy Day!
Pigeon Lake - Brad's Place
Ted's Report:
Harold was already out on the water when I arrived at Brad's around 11:30am. The wind was up and down, but mostly up. I think Harold won the award for most time on the water, but Ross was a close second. To be fair, Ross was still kiting when I left at 5:30, so he may have even surpassed Harold.
I rigged my 4.2 Hucker and 1100 front wing and headed out. Brad offered me his 790 wing, but after scratching it yesterday, I didn't feel right using it. I thought Brad was going to go foiling, but after I was out for a while, Brad joined me finning on his 4.2m sail and Stuby board. It looked like he had a great session. It was his first time Finning since the fall of 2019.
Al was on his 3.8 all day (the fifth time he has used his 3.8 this year in Alberta - a new record). He said he had a really great day!
Harold sailed on his 4.2 all day. Vadim was on his 5.0, but said the wind was so up and down that he didn't have as good a day as yesterday.
Tim was rocketing on his 4.8 and scored some great jumps.
Ross was on his 5m kite, but was kitesurfing, not foiling. Mike started with his 8m kite, but then went down to his 6.
After coming in for lunch, I had a second session on the 4.2. I was quite comfortable in the lulls, but some of the gusts were just extreme!
I had a nice chat with Brad's grandson Calvin. Calvin was playing in a sandpile and seemed to be in a very chatty mood. He is very proud of his Pappy and told me that he is a very good sailor, and that he has improved a lot since last year, but he still falls now and then. After checking me over, he also told me that his Pappy HAS HAIR, even though he just turned 67! Too funny!
Brad went out on his foil, as I was coming in after my second session. He said he had a lot of fun, but also commented on the gusts!
I think it was a very good day for everyone. Who would have thought we would get such a good couple of days in Alberta in the middle of summer. It was really great to see everyone!

Wabamun Lake - Jim's Place
Blaine's Report:
Sorry, no photos. Just Jim and me foiling like mad men in water world!
I got there around 11:30 to find Jim suited up with his foil and 3.7. I rigged my 3.8 and small foil to go chase him. The wind was like yesterday, and the waves in the middle were really nice.
We came in for coffee and then hit the action for a second set with Jim following me.
After sailing, we relaxed with a beverage of our choice and swatted at the wasps.
Jim is looking really comfortable on the foil in those big waves!
Best Day Ever!
