The guys (and girls) started arriving at Ted's place around noon.  It was a very hot day and mostly calm.

Blaine arrived just before noon.  It wasn't windy enough for foiling yet, but he was anxious to rig.  After lunch, Mike, Barb, Andreas, and Ross arrived, and then Harold as well.  (Karen and Sue arrived later in the afternoon.)

We sat down by the lake, waiting for wind. The wind kept teasing us with relatively strong gusts, and then nothing.  We decided that if we went Wake Surfing, the wind would either come up or die.  I convinced Louise to come with us to drive the boat, and Barb came along for the ride.  Andreas, Ross, and I all went wake surfing.  I went first to demonstrate.  I was a bit nervous because I hadn't wake surfed since last year...  Spencer and I have been wake foiling instead, but I managed to get up, drop the rope, and even transition from the right side of the wake to the left and back without falling off the wave.

Ross and Andreas then gave it a try.  Andreas has done it before, so didn't have much difficulty.  It was all new to Ross, but being the athlete he is, he had no trouble getting up - and after a few tries, was able to drop the rope and stay on the wave behind the boat.  He had a big grin on his face, so I think he was having fun.  Sorry - no photos.

The wind picked up while we were out, of course, and then dropped again when we came in.  

While we were out, Blaine went for an SUP ride.

Irrespective of the wind, I think everyone just had to go out.  So, Blaine went out on his 7.0 Flyer and Foil Board, Mike went on his 15m Kite and Kiteboard, Andreas and Ross were on their kite foil boards.  Andreas was on a 10m kite, and Ross was on his 7m kite, but he thought he was on his 9.....  He is getting old like the rest of us.  There were definately some weeds in the lake, but they weren't as bad as I expected, and the foilers didn't seem to have much difficulty.

Harold spent time on the grass working on his wing control and then went out to try his Windwing on one of my SUP's.

I took out my 6.0 wing and gave it a try on my SUP as well.  In hindsight, I probably should have had my Foil board, as in the gusts, I may have had enough power to get going.

Barb and I also took out the boat to take photos of the guys, cruising past back and forth.  The waves weren't big but were big enough to keep rocking the boat, making holding the camera steady, difficult.

We all came off the water at around 7:00 and then sat in the shade talking about the day.  We all enjoyed the meat and cheese tray that Barb had brought, and the Rhubarb Chutney that Louise had made. (Did I forget the muffins that Blaine brought?)

Harold left early as Rachelle was making supper.

After de-rigging, I got the BBQ going.  Louise and I had prepared some potato packs, onions, and beans.  Barb had brought some corn which we cooked up, and Louise made a salad, and Karen and Ross also brought a salad, and everyone cooked their own choice of meat.  After supper, Karen was passing around coconut cookies..  Yum. Sorry if I missed anyone.  We were all very well-fed and satisfied.

After supper, we set up our portable propane fire pit/campfire on the lawn in the shade and enjoyed an evening looking out over the lake.  (We even had a deer wander by...)

Ross, Karen, Andreas, and Sue all left for home.  Mike, Barb, and Blaine stayed at the campfire until about 11:00 when we all decided it was past our bedtime.

Blaine left early in the morning to meet Andreas for a Bike Ride.

Mike did some fishing from our dock and caught a few Jackfish which he threw back, and Barb and I went out in the boat and she watched me fly a couple of my RC Seaplanes.

Mike then gave Spencer a tour of his Sprinter and Spencer showed Mike the progress on his Ford Transit conversion.

What a great couple of days!  Thanks, everyone for coming - Louise and I had a wonderful time!  There is nothing better than having friends visit when you live on a lake so you can share your toys!!!

Lac la Biche - Big Jim's Place Tuesday - Day 1 I arrived at Big Jim's place at 1:00.  Jim met me on the driveway and helped me unload my van....  I had a lot of my toys with me....  Two sea planes, two quad copters, my wake foil gear, and my foiling gear! Blaine arrived shortly after I did, followed by Mike and then Brad.  It was great to see them! It was a beautiful day, but there wasn't much wind.  Jim and I blew up our wings, which more or less killed  what wind there was.  Went out on our SUP's anyway, but the wind was too light to hold the wings in the air, so we didn't have much success. 2021-09-01 Sailing the first week of September

Thursday, September 1, 2021 Lac Ste Anne:  Alberta Beach Harold's Report: Allan, Vadim and I snuck in an afternoon of pretty good windsurfing today.  The rain finally stopped at about 1230PM and it turned into a sunny windy day, so I jumped on the water and Al joined me soon after.  Vadim showed up a little later and got in some pretty good reaches.  Al and Vadim used their 6.5s and I used my 6.1. There were lots of good swells to be had all day. The first hour of wind was solid.  The second couple of hours were fluky.  The wind seemed to rise and fall off the water in patches, although sometimes it was sustained, so as Kent would say, it was technical sailing.  But all in all it was fun.  Mike came down on his kite to say hello.  It looked like he was well powered most of the time and having fun.  The water is getting cool.  We’d better get our sailing in while it is still liquid.  Monday, September 6, 2021 Lac Ste Anne - Albe...

2021-07-11 Blasting at Alberta Beach

Lac Ste. Anne - Alberta Beach Mikes Report: We had a great kite session at Alberta beach yesterday. There were a slew of kiters on the water on a beautiful day.    Ross was smoking on his new foil with his 7m.  Andreas was on his surfboard which met its demise again and then on his foil  I think he was on his 10. I was on my surfboard ... I tried strapless, but not by design, as my solo front strap came undone so I decided to toast it completely.  I found strapless pretty easy but still struggling to gybe the thing.    I did a quick session on my 15 at the start then went down to my 10 when it filled in.  Allan and one other windsurfer ( not sure who ) were getting a good ride for a change I think Al was on his 6.5. Note:  It turns out that the "other" windsurfer was Vadim. He told me he was on his 6.5 and 99 Litre board, and then his 115 Litre board.  He said it was a very good day, with gusts, and lulls.
